There are two voluntary aided primary
schools within the parish, St James' and St George's.
St James' school is situated close by the
parish church. The school has around 220 pupils from the age of 4 to 11.
St Georges school is situated about half a
mile from the parish church in an area of 1960s and 1970s housing. It
replaced an old Victorian building that had stood on St Georges Road for many
years. There are around 260 pupils in the school.
There is also a secondary school in the
parish, Crompton House. The school is voluntary aided and boasts
"Beacon School" status.
